This tutorial will show you how to install both the Tomcat server to your loved Raspberry Pi.

The Tomcat is a Java application server, so you need to have installed Java first, be sure to check out how to install Java on Raspberry Pi, the other tutorial by slady. ;)

In the old days, the other tutorials said you have to download the package from Apache, unpack the archive and install it manually... This all is no longer needed! :-)

All you have to do in order to install Tomcat on Raspberry Pi, type in the command line:

sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-jdk

And that is all! ;-)

We only need to set JAVA_HOME properly in /etc/default/tomcat7

sudo nano /etc/default/tomcat7

Useful commands:

sudo service tomcat7 start
sudo service tomcat7 stop
sudo service tomcat7 restart

Check out other Raspberry Pi tutorials! ;-)
